Lindt Lindor

Lindt Lindor are truffle balls with a hard chocolate shell and a smooth filling. They come in a dizzying variety of flavours often sold as box sets, but with some available only in their cafes, and from their factory outlets for particularly obscure flavours.

Almond

The Almond is a ‘milk chocolate shell with a smooth almond flavoured centre’. It’s made in Italy and comes in a purple wrapper.

The almond flavoured centre tastes like almond flavour, rather than the actual nut itself, and gave it a pseudo-alcoholic flavour that makes it a pleasant twist on ordinary milk chocolate.

Cappucino

The Cappuccino is a ‘white chocolate and coffee shell with a smooth cappuccino centre’. It’s made in Italy with a light brown wrapper.

The white chocolate shell is covered in brown speckles, while a prominent coffee flavour came through from the centre. The use of white chocolate shell doesn’t compete with the coffee flavour as would a milk or dark chocolate but also increases the sweetness as a result.

Coconut

The Coconut is a ‘milk chocolate shell with a smooth white coconut centre’. It’s made in Italy with a turquoise wrapper.

The coconut flavour was very pronounced in the centre and complements well with the milk chocolate for a smooth sweetness.

Coconut (Dark)

The Dark Coconut is a ‘dark chocolate shell with a smooth coconut centre’. It’s made in Italy with a dark turquoise wrapper.

Compared to the milk chocolate version (above), the flavour of dark chocolate is more prominent and makes for a more restrained sweetness, but almost less pronounced coconut flavour.

Mocha

Mocha is a ‘dark chocolate shell with a smooth, dark, coffee flavoured centre’. It’s made in Italy with a dark brown wrapper with print ‘Cafeé’.

The coffee flavour was a little lost in the bitterness of the dark chocolate, which leaves a bitterness lingering on the palate. It’s less sweet than the cappuccino and tastes like a mocha made with a generous amount of dark chocolate.

Hazelnut

Hazelnut is a ‘milk chocolate shell with hazelnut pieces encasing a smooth milk centre’. It’s made in Italy with a brown wrapper.

Crushed hazelnuts scattered through the shell add a pleasant hazelnut flavour and crunch, but we prefer the fancier hazelnut ones in the Roulettes series.

Irish Creme

The Irish Creme is a ‘milk chocolate shell with a whiskey cream flavoured filling’. It’s made in Italy with a light pink wrapper.

Strong notes of whiskey came through initially and dissipate by mid-bite into an enjoyable smooth cream. This is one of the more enjoyable liqueur-based flavours.

Lemon

The Lemon is a ‘white chocolate shell with a white lemon flavoured filling’. It’s made in Italy with a lime green wrapper.

The lemon flavour was pleasantly light and balances the sweetness of the white chocolate with a pleasant zestiness.

Mango & Cream

The Mango is a ‘white chocolate shell with a mango and cream centre’. It’s made in Switzerland with an amber wrapper.

The shell is flecked with bits of mango that add a pleasant crunch and pops of flavour while the flavour of the mango cream is rich and fresh.

Mint

The Mint is a ‘dark chocolate shell with a smooth white mint centre’. It’s made in the USA with a green wrapper.

The overall flavour recalled an after-dinner mint with the mint centre having a cooling mouthfeel.

Orange

The Orange is a ‘milk chocolate shell with a smooth, dark orange flavoured filling’. It’s made in Italy with an orange wrapper.

The prominent dark chocolate flavour tempers the orange notes, resulting in a pleasant combination of flavours. I’m not usually a fan of orange flavoured chocolate – I’m still not – but this was pleasantly balanced.

Peppermint

The Peppermint is a ‘dark chocolate shell with a smooth dark peppermint centre’. It’s made in the USA with a black and green wrapper.

This one has a more bitter, less sweet flavour than the mint version with the additional dark chocolate base for the centre causing the dark chocolate flavour to dominated the mint.

Raspberry

Raspberry is a ‘dark chocolate shell with a smooth dark raspberry centre’. It’s made in the USA with a deep pink wrapper.

The raspberry flavour was bright and fresh, recalling the classic pairing in desserts.

Sea Salt Caramel

The Sea Salt Caramel is a ‘dark chocolate shell with a smooth sea salt caramel centre’. It’s made in the USA with a sky blue wrapper.

The centre has salt crystals throughout that bring bursts of salty flavour and texture that contrasts well with the sweet caramel. Together with the dark chocolate, this is a sophisticated flavour.

Snowballs

Snowball is a ‘white and milk chocolate snowball’. It’s a ‘seasonal’ flavour for Christmas made in the USA with a white and blue snowmen wrapper.

This is one of the more ordinary flavours with an enjoyable contrast in both texture and flavour.

Stracciatella

The Stracciatella is a ‘white chocolate shell with cocoa nibs and a smooth white centre’ made in the USA.

The cocoa nibs in the shell add a delectable crunch to what is otherwise different textures of white chocolate.

Strawberries and Cream

The Strawberries and Cream is a ‘white chocolate shell with strawberry pieces encasing a smooth pink strawberry flavoured centre’ made in Italy.

The shell is flecked with red, while the flavour of strawberry in the centre is fresh and creamy, and leaves a sweet fruity aftertaste. This a true strawberry and cream experience.

White Peppermint

The White Peppermint is a ‘white chocolate shell with peppermint pieces and a smooth peppermint centre’. It’s made in the USA with a red and white wrapper.

Compared to the mint and peppermint above, this one brought the strongest minty aroma with the flecks of red throughout the shell adding bits of crunch like a candy cane.

These Lindt Lindor were 25 g each. They were produced in Italy, the United States and Switzerland and gifted and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2016 and 2017.
