Pearls are the perfect pick-me-up when you’ve had a rough day or you just feel under the weather. I forgot about their chewy texture was for many years, but D’s reminded me just how satisfying they can be with this Comebuy Passion Fruit Blast ($5.00).
It’s passion fruit juice blended with jasmine green tea and topped with pearls, lychee jelly and coconut jelly. We like ours with 50% sugar and no ice.
The resulting tea is a cludy yellow-orange colour. The passionfruit adds just the right amount of tropical flavour to the fragrant jasmine green tea, while the pearls are chewy and unsweetened, allowing the more prominent pops of sweetness to come from the jellies which have a good bounce on the teeth. At $5.00 for a large size with three types of toppings, this is beverage is both refreshingly tasty and more reasonably priced than other tea shops.
