Pasta salad was a staple in our high school canteen. It was simple with pasta, carrot and corn tossed with mayonnaise. D loved it then, forgot about it for over a decade, and recently developed a craving for it. With a need to satiate that craving now, we picked up this ready-to-eat Coles Classic Pasta Salad with macaroni, grated carrot, shallots, capsicum and onion.
D enjoyed the tanginess of the salad dressing but found the texture of the pasta less al dente and the flavour of onion and shallot more pronounced than he’d like. He’d have enjoyed more sweetness the salad with more carrot and the addition of corn kernels. At $4.00 for a small size we expected more than just pasta.
