Food Envy Tiramisu

Tiramisu is something I’d never turn down for dessert. So when D spotted this Food Envy Tiramisu, it wasn’t long before it found its way into our trolley.

There’s not much of a description of the tiramisu on the box, but it’s made in Italy and that’s good enough for us to try.

The tiramisu has very balanced notes of marsala coming through in the first bite before the boozy notes mellow to a subtle chocolatey coffee note with the smooth mascarpone cream in the finish. Compared to other brands, like the one by Toscano, the use of alcohol to soak the sponge is restrained and leaves no shallow pool at the base of the container. We prefer the restrained use of alcohol in this Aldi version as it gave the dessert a lighter mouthfeel, but we enjoy the more generous chocolate and coffee flavours in the Toscano.

This Food Envy Tiramisu contained 500 g. It was produced in Italy and purchased in Sydney, Australia.
