Lupicia Grapefruit Green

Green teas and oolongs tend to carry fruit flavours better than black tea. The lighter qualities of these teas avoid overwhelming or dominating the flavour of the tea. This here is Lupicia Grapefruit Green.

Grapefruit Green is a green tea blend scented with lemon peel and daidai, a variety of bitter orange from Japan.

Steeping 3 g of tea leaf in 200 mL of water at 75°C for 90 seconds, the tea was a clear golden colour with slight tea dust and a refreshing grapefruit nose. Served hot, the sweet fragrance of grapefruit flesh came through at the head of each sip followed swiftly by the zestier — yet not bitter — notes of the rind developing in the body with the pleasantly mellow notes of green tea that linger through to the finish and leave a clean aftertaste. This tea is immensely enjoyable for extracting the sweetness and zestiness of the fruit without focusing on the bitterness.

This Lupicia Grapefruit Green contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from Japan, packaged in Japan, and purchased in Kyōto, Japan in 2015.
