My tolerance for spicy foods has improved dramatically over the past year. Or to be more precise, I’ve found enjoyable spicy foods as opposed to foods that are spicy for the sake of it. So, now I’m more open to trying spicy flavours like this Kettle Chip Company Taste Sensations Sriracha Chilli & Wild Lime from early in 2018.
These potato chips are dusted with an orange-red seasoning and have a citrus peppery aroma that reminds of the Red Rock Deli Lime & Black Pepper flavour. The taste, though, is far removed: there’s a warm heat from the chilli at the head of each bite before a citrus acidity from the lime builds to a prominent sweetness mid-bite. The chilli returns in the finish with a strong heat that leaves a gentle burn that’s enjoyable and just enough to slow down eating a fraction. That said, we prefer the standard Kettle with Jalapeno & Red Chillis as we don’t enjoy the sweet acidity here.
