This Twinings In’fuse Watermelon, Strawberry & Mint is the second of five flavours released by Twinings for infusing in cold water and follows on from the rose lemonade.
Pyramid tea bags enclose the tisane, which featured a blend of hibiscus, beetroot, rosehips, strawberry flavouring (9%), watermelon flavouring (7%), orange peel, mint flavouring (1%), natural flavouring.
The tisane is prepared by dropping the infuser into cold water. It’s recommended that the infuser is left in the water for lasting flavour.
Infusing 1 tea bag for 10 minutes in 500 mL of cold water, the infusion was a translucent deep red colour with a minty aroma and a summery sweetness to avoid associations with toothpaste. Served chilled, the notes of fresh mint – the flavour you’d expect from leaves fresh off the plant – are prominent from the head of each sip, before a gentle sweetness of watermelon emerged in the body. A mild tartness characteristic of strawberries follows swiftly at the end of the body, leaving a subtle minty freshness on the palate. in the finish.
The tisane is the perfect iced beverage for summer – it’s refreshing from the mint but with a balanced sweetness and acidity of watermelon and strawberry. Indeed, the flavour recalled the watermelon and mint sorbet from Anita Gelato with added of acidity.
