Glico Pretz Tōkyō Monjayaki

This Glico Pretz Tōkyō Monjayaki is inspired by the flavour of monjayaki, a type of Japanese ‘pancake’ popular in the Kantō region that is similar to okonomiyaki in the Kansai region but uses additional dashi or water to make its consistency runnier.

These were mini boxes, so each box contained one bright blue bag rather than the usual two.

Each box contained ~16 biscuit sticks that are a golden yellow brown colour and dusted in a white seasoning.

The Pretz have a savoury aroma much like dashi and on tasting, the dashi was evident from the slightly shrimpy marine flavour from seasoning dusted over the biscuit sticks. Biting through the biscuit, the flavour becomes more fragrant, recalling the flavour of soy sauce as it caramelises and with the overall crunchy texture recalling the crispy bits that are often found in monjayaki.

This Glico Pretz Tōkyō Monjayaki contained 23 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Saitama, Japan in 2018.
