In October 2018, Coca-Cola launched a premium range of special blends designed especially for the adult palate. This one here is the Coca-Cola Batch Blends No 01 Coffee & Chocolate, which combines the taste of Coca-Cola ‘with a blend of real coffee from Brazil’ and chocolate (the other blend uses caramel instead of chocolate). The drinks were intended for bars, hotels and restaurants, so we were excited (and confused) to see it at our local supermarket before Christmas.
The coffee is a translucent deep brown-black colour with a sweet acidic caramel aroma and high carbonation that recalled the Coca-Cola Plus Coffee No Sugar. Served chilled, a mellow cola flavour came through at the head of each sip before the flavour intensifies as the coffee notes emerged in the body with a moderate acidity and develop with a round and rich chocolatey sweetness. Unlike the Coca-Cola Plus Coffee, the high carbonation of this drink leaves a clean finish with no lingering aftertaste.
