We picked up this Coles Ultimate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice Cream during a promotion sometime last year. It’s part of the more upmarket products of the supermarket’s home brand. It contained 17% cookie dough (mostly butter, sugar and vanilla), 11% milk chocolate ripple, and 5.9% peanut paste, amongst other things.
The ice cream delivered on its promise of peanut butter and cookie dough, with a smooth and creamy vanilla base and a gentle peanut nuttiness coming through punctuated by chewy gobs of cookie dough. We couldn’t taste the chocolate in the ice cream, alas and would have enjoyed a richer peanut flavour, perhaps in the form of peanut butter flavoured cookie dough rather than the vanilla flavoured gobs of butter and sugar at present that added texture but no flavour. An added element of crunch from crushed peanuts would’ve also been welcome. It’s not a bad ice cream overall, but not something we’d repurchase.
