This Heinz Beanz and Sausages satisfies all the needs for a tomatoey and carby fix with a side of protein that’s perfect for those lazy lunch days. It contained 45% tomato sauce, 43% navy beans and 12% sausages (lamb and beef).
The contents of the can be heated in the microwave for 2 minutes on high, then stirred and heated for a further minute. The tomato sauce is thick enough to coat the beans and sausages without being gluggy, while the beans are perfectly tender and the sausages well distributed throughout. The sausages are made from a coarse mince, retaining their texture but without the ‘bounce’ of heavily processed sausages. It’s interesting that the sausages use lamb as the main ingredient (beef comes after), which was evident in the texture of the sausage but does not have the gamey flavour associated usually with lamb.
