We have never been partial to spicy notes of ginger, so this Arnott’s Dark Chocolate Inspired by Ginger Nut is one of the first, if not the only, product with ginger in its name and ingredients that we’ve purchased. Ever. It’s described as a ‘decadent dark chocolate mixed with crunchy ginger biscuit pieces’. We’ve never eaten a Ginger Nut, but it’s the only block in the series made from dark chocolate and we like that.

We purchased it on a whim not expecting much, yet our enjoyment of this block took us by surprise. The block has the bittersweet aroma of dark chocolate, which came through on tasting initially before the chunks of Ginger Nut — the NSW version of the biscuit is the thickest and hardest of all the states — deliver an immensely satisfying crunch throughout the rest of the bite. It’s the crunch sought but did not receive in the Scotch Finger block. I’ve also no idea how much ginger came through in a Ginger Nut, but here it’s a very gentle spiced ginger flavour — just enough to adding that extra something to the dark chocolate but not enough to overpower or deliver that tingling spiciness.
This Arnott’s Dark Chocolate Inspired by Ginger Nut contained 250 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2019.
