After a long break of drinking tearista bubble tea in lieu of barista coffee, I returned for their holiday season lineup when the Starbucks Peppermint Mocha ($6.00, tall, less ice). It consisted of a mocha base with the addition peppermint flavoured syrup and steamed milk, which is then topped with whipped cream, dark chocolate pieces and candy cane sprinkles.
The peppermint mocha has a rich chocolatey aroma and on tasting, the chocolate flavours are dark and smooth, while the tingle of the peppermint brought a refreshing finish to each sip. Essentially, it has the refreshing sweetness of an after dinner mint — it’s rich, dark, yet light on the palate — while the candy cane sprinkles add that touch of colour to get us into the Christmas spirit. I enjoy this mocha, but would likely order it only once or twice a season.
This Peppermint Mocha was ordered at Starbucks in Sydney, Australia in November, 2019.
