It is a sweet scented black tea with rich condensed milk and colorful fruits inspired by Kagoshima’s famous shaved ice “white bear”.
The tea is a looseleaf black tea scented with condensed milk and blended with candied orange peel, dried pineapple and red beans as well as multicoloured konpeitō.
Steeping 3 g of looseleaf in 200 mL of water at 85°C for 3 minutes, the infusion was a clear amber colour with a creamy, fruity aroma. Served hot, sweet notes of creamy condensed milk develop with the fruitiness of candied pineapple and a gentle zestiness of orange in the body ahead of a rich finish that recalled a red bean dessert like zenzai with an added creaminess that recalled a red bean KitKat.
This Lupicia Ours Blanc contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from India and Sri Lanka, packaged in Japan, and purchased in Kagoshima, Japan in 2019.
