This Nestlé KitKat Hokkaidō Azuki & Strawberry is a region limited KitKat for the Hokkaidō region.
These bars use strawberries and azuki sourced exclusively from the Hokkaidō region.
Each mini bar is a pastel pink colour and contained azuki flavoured cream sandwiching the wafers that are enrobed in strawberry flavoured white chocolate.
These KitKat have a sweet-sour aroma of fresh strawberries. Upon tasting, the same sweet-sour taste of the strawberries came through with the acidity giving it a bright flavour that avoids any artificiality. The red bean at the centre brought an earthy sweetness that contrasts, yet complements beautifully, the strawberry flavour. The overall flavour recalled modern takes on traditional Japanese sweets and we enjoy the depth that the azuki adds to the strawberry immensely.
