It’s been a few years now, but prior to that, caramelised biscuits were surprisingly scarce in Australia. This Lotus Biscoff is touted as the ‘original caramelised biscuit’ with its ‘delicious taste and crispy texture’. Essentially, they’re just speculaas that are known as Biscoff outside of Europe it seems.
The package contained 8 individually sealed packs each with two biscuits, which are 7 x 3 x 0.5 cm in size.
The biscuits have an initial hint of cinnamon ahead of the sugar crystals inside the cookie giving the biscuit an extra level of crunch and an enjoyable deep sweetness as the crumbs gather moisture and melt in the mouth. Two biscuits in each individually sealed pack are just the right serving as the sweetness lingered on the palate and amplifies the sweetness of latter biscuits. Overall, these have a more prominent caramelised sweetness and lighter colour compared to Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookies.
