Lakeside Seafood Takeaway, North Parramatta

With autumn coming around, we made good on our summer intentions to visit Parramatta Lake. Before heading there, though, we popped by Lakeside Seafood for fish and chips to eat by the lake.

The shop is a few minutes drive or a 10-minute walk to the lake. It’s tucked away in a strip of other small local businesses in a residential area and has all the usual offerings of a fish and chip shop.

This is the Family Basket ($39.90) with 3 fish, 3 fish cocktails, 3 calamari rings, 3 prawn cutlets, 6 potato scallops, chips and a 1.25 L of soft drink.

The fish fillets were generously portioned with all the fish and prawns having a crisp coating and moist and fresh interior. We were without cutlery, though, so the smaller cocktails and cutlets were much easier to eat. The chips fared similarly, although we would’ve enjoyed a thicker cut chip for a fluffier innard, while the potato scallops were made with mash potato to achieve a very smooth and creamy mouthfeel.

Overall, we found the fish and chips to be a decent local offering and satisfy any craving, but not so special to be a destination.

Lakeside Seafood Takeaway is located at 17 Iron St, North Parramatta NSW 2151.
