This Nespresso World Explorations Shanghai Lungo is inspired by the emerging Asian coffee culture. China has grown coffee for centuries but only recently developed a modern coffee scene.

The coffee is a light roast blend of Arabicas from Kenya, China and Indonesia. It has an intensity of 5 out of 13 and comes in a red capsule printed with a fan motif.

Prepared as a lungo, the coffee was a black-brown colour with a fruity aroma. Each sip begins with a mild fruity acidity that developed in the body with a berry quality that captured the lush, sweet acidity of red currants and lingered through to the finish with the barest hint of bitterness. The addition of a dash of milk brought a surprising shift to the flavour profile, with notes of citrus that recall bergamot — much like Earl Grey black tea — came through in the finish. Overall, this is a light coffee with a silky smooth mouthfeel with surprising characteristics that can easily adapt to one’s flavour preference.
This Nespresso World Explorations Shanghai Lungo contained 10 x 5.7 g capsules. It was produced in Switzerland and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2021.
