We spent a good few weeks watching YouTube videos on South Korea, so it was only to be expected that when we ended up on the Korean side of Eastwood, we’d take the opportunity to eat at a Korean restaurant. This is Mirac Korean Restaurant.

First up, were an array of complimentary side dishes:
- Row 1: Pickled onions; honeyed sweet potato
- Row 2: Raw octopus in gochujang; kim chi
- Row 3: Pickled wakame and daikon; bean curd skin and julienned carrots in chilli
- Row 4: Coleslaw of crab meat, cabbage and jellyfish; chilli sauce
We were fans of the raw octopus, the wakame, and the coleslaw, but found the sweet potato overly sweet. The soy bean curd was lightly sweet with a subtle heat.

This is the Seafood and vegetable pancake ($22.00).
The pancake was crispy with a soft delicious centre of mussels and octopus. D and I aren’t fans of the onion family, but seem not to mind them in Korean pancakes as they add a touch of inobtrusive sweetness.

This is the chilli baby octopus ($22.00) with a side of rice (included). The baby octopus were tender while the sauce gave it a medium heat that spicy enough for a kick but nothing quite as spicy as the internet leads us to believe Korean food can be. We were a bit disappointed by the large amount of onion in dish.

This is the Cold Buckwheat Noodle in Soup ($20.00). Chunks of the frozen broth keep the noodles very chilled. This gave the cooked noodles a very chewy texture. While the broth is subtly savoury, and the egg and singular slice of beef provide a source of protein, the pickled cucumbers and daikon brought pops of bold acidity.
Overall, we enjoyed the food at Mirac Korean Restaurant but found their prices — the cold noodles in particular — rather steep for what they were.

Mirac Korean Restaurant is located at 118 Rowe St, Eastwood NSW 2122.
