This is the Bubble Nini Yuzu Sparkling from Bubble Nini Tea ($8.50, large, 75% sweetness, no ice). It was carbonated and consisted of yuzu, lemon, lychee jelly, and sakura pearls.
Consumed chilled, the drink tasted much like a yuzu-ade made using yuzu marmalade. However, the overall flavour of the yuzu was rather weak and bolstered only by the sips that picked up the yuzu peel from the marmalade, which weren’t particularly enticing in a bubble tea. Thankfully, the lychee jelly and sakura pearls redeemed the texture somewhat, with the latter delivering its signature floral quality that was distinctly Japanese and so a fitting complement to the drink. Overall, this was a disappointing drink and efforts should be made to not seal carbonated drinks as the pressure from the carbonation would inevitably pop the seal if not consumed immediately.
This Bubble Nini Yuzu Sparkling was purchased from Bubble Nini Tea in July 2022.
