This is the Lupicia Sakura Vert Premium in its 2023 limited edition tin.
The tea was a loose-leaf blend of premium sencha with cherry blossoms and salted cherry leaves.
Steeping 3 grams of looseleaf in 200 mL of water at a temperature of 75ºC for a duration of 1.5 minutes, the resulting infusion was a translucent, pale green hue. Its fragrance was a harmonious blend of refined florals and savoury undertones, reminiscent of a young sakura tree in full bloom. Served hot, the sencha tea displayed its characteristic earthy and vegetal quality, enriched by the subtle infusion of savouriness from the salted cherry leaves. This infusion contributed a seaweed-like umami, akin to the flavour of gyokuro tea. This profound oceanic flavour pervaded the entirety of each sip, accompanied by delicate accents of cherry blossoms that gracefully emerged within the body of the tea. The lingering aftertaste briefly graced the palate, showcasing minimal astringency.
