This is the Cooks Confectionery Scorched Peanut Bar & Bites. Originally available in Australia during the 1980s under the Mastercraft brand, it was later discontinued by Nestlé in 2011. However, Cooks Confectionery successfully relaunched this product into the market in October 2019.

A few months later they were released as a bag in bites form. Both were described as featuring ‘scorched peanuts in caramelised toffee with a rich chocolatey coating’. Notably, the bar consisted of 35% peanuts and 30% milk chocolate.

Each bar had dimensions of approximately 15 x 3 x 1 cm, while the bites had dimensions of approximately 3 x 3 x 1 cm.

The bar and bites broke with a clean snap, and the caramelised toffee contributed an audible crunch without causing any discomfort to the teeth or jaw. The roasted peanuts provided a robust nuttiness, skillfully reaching the scorched threshold without any bitter overtones. This nutty warmth balanced the sweetness of the crunchy caramelised toffee perfectly, with the chocolate coating adding further depth to the overall sweetness. This bar was highly gratifying, living up to our expectations of a genuine “scorched peanut bar”, and very much worth repurchasing.
This Cooks Confectionery Scorched Peanut Bar & Bites contained 45 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
