Fujiya’s chocolate brand, Look A La Mode, has been a beloved treat since its debut in 1962. It consists of bite-size chocolate pieces with cream fillings including banana, strawberry, almond and pineapple. In honour of its 60th anniversary in 2022, Fujiya collaborated with Akagi to launch the Fujiya Look Almond Ice Bar, inspired by the almond filling found in Fujiya’s signature chocolate.
The frozen version consisted on almond ice cream mixed with roasted almonds, all coated with chocolate.
The ice bar measured approximately 10 x 5 x 1.5 cm in size. Upon tasting, the chocolate coating offered a satisfying crispness and revealed a rich, creamy, and refined flavour profile that exceeded expectations despite its thin layer. The almond ice cream within was velvety, exuding a pleasant nuttiness, heightened by the abundant crushed roasted almonds that contributed a delightful texture and crunch. Overall, the harmonious blend of almond and chocolate provided a refreshing and enjoyable treat perfect for the summertime.
This Akagi x Fujiya LOOK Almond Choco Bar contained 80 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
