This is the Desobry Luxury Belgian Biscuits, a conspicuously large box of cookies measuring approximately 1 meter in length and containing four trays arranged end to end rather than stacked for transport convenience.

Each of the four trays included 12 types of cookies, each with distinct characteristics.

Alaska: The butter cookie in this selection had a crunchy texture, complemented by the sweet creaminess of white chocolate; however, the dark chocolate did not make a prominent impact on the palate.

Koala Lait: This chocolate-flavored biscuit stood out for its crispiness, with the coating of milk chocolate providing both textural variation and a rich, creamy flavor.

Cookie: This choc chip cookie fell short due to an inadequate amount of choc chips. The subtle hazelnut presence also barely made an impression, resulting in a dry and dense crumb with a lack of overall flavor.

Ghana Lait: A crunchy cinnamon biscuit smothered with milk chocolate, where the cinnamon notes were overshadowed by the milk chocolate’s sweetness, leading to a preference for the dark chocolate version.

Ghana Noir: Another crunchy cinnamon biscuit (speculoos) smothered with dark chocolate. The subtle bitterness and richer dark chocolate flavor had a mellowing effect on the sweet cinnamon notes, making it preferable to the sweeter milk chocolate variant.

Cœur: This butter cookie lacked the fragrant richness typically found in superior butter cookies.

Finger Lait: This was a crispy finger biscuit covered in milk chocolate, but otherwise unremarkable.

Cannes: A butter biscuit dipped in dark chocolate, offering a buttery and lighter crumb that contrasted well with the rich heaviness of the dark chocolate.

Rondelle Riz: A round cookie sprinkled with puffed rice and coated with milk chocolate. The crunch, lightness, and toasted quality of the puffed rice added depth to each bite, complementing the milk chocolate.

Souverain: Another passable butter cookie with a light crumb but lacking the distinctive buttery flavor that characterizes superior butter cookies.

Cristal: A rolled crispy vanilla curl biscuit with a thickness of about 7 mm. Unfortunately, it lacked the delicate crispness and rich flavor associated with Chinese egg rolls.

Salsa: This selection featured an incredibly light cookie that melted in the mouth, allowing the dark chocolate to dominate by about mid-bite.

Overall, the biscuits in this ‘luxury’ selection were passable, though not unenjoyable. The highlight, however, was the Belgian chocolate—a country known for impeccable chocolate. It showcased a smooth and creamy mouthfeel while delivering a rich and full-bodied flavor.
This Desobry Luxury Belgian Biscuits contained 1 kg (250 g x 4). It was produced in Belgium and received as a gift from acquaintances in 2023.
