This is the Yamazaki Biscuits Chip Star Wonder Taste, a flavour released to celebrate the launch of the Super Mario Bros Wonder game.
Each package contained 24 chips, each with a crucved oval shape, measuring approximately 5.6 x 4.2 cm in size. They had a surprising purple- hue, were lightly dusted with a fine orange-hued seasoning, and emitted a fragrant curry aroma.
Upon tasting, these chips had a satisfying crispness, with the curry flavor taking the spotlight from the start, reminiscent of Japanese curry. It leaned towards a pork-based profile, with a subtle sweetness and a restrained spice blend, distinct from the robustness of Indian curry. The curry flavour peaked mid-bite before giving way to the natural potato taste. While the curry’s heat was mild initially, it gradually intensified with each subsequent chip, leaving a lingering warmth. Overall, these chips offered an enjoyable curry experience, yet we found ourselves inclined to revisit their more enticing nori flavor over this one.
This Yamazaki Biscuits Chip Star Wonder Taste contained 45 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
