This is the Fujiya x Nippon Yell Palettie Yamanashi Sumomo, a cookie featuring juice from sumomo plums produced in Yamanashi Prefecture.
Each box contained eight individually sealed cookies. Each piece measured approximately 4.5 × 3.5 × 1.0 cm. The cookies presented with a golden tan outer border surrounding a pink centre embedded with white chocolate chips. The structure appeared dense yet layered between the biscuit shell and fruit filling. Aroma opened with an immediately recognisable plum sweetness, supported by a gentle tartness resembling ume.
Initial contact delivered a crisp bite through the outer biscuit, which fractured into a fine, dense shortbread crumb. This contrasted clearly against the softer, slightly moist plum centre. The plum flavour emerged immediately with a bright sweet–tart balance, beginning with a rounded ume-like sharpness before gradually developing a gentler acidity through the mid-palate. As the flavour expanded, the fruit profile shifted towards apricot and white peach, introducing a floral brightness that lifted the finish.
The white chocolate chips softened gradually as the biscuit warmed, introducing a mild creamy sweetness through the latter half of the palate. This rounded the sharper fruit edges and created an effect reminiscent of the cream component of a plum tart. Towards the finish, the shortbread richness and plum aroma lingered together, with the floral fruit character remaining pronounced in the aftertaste.
Overall, a filled cookie with a rising sweet–tart fruit progression and well integrated structural contrast between crisp shortbread, soft fruit filling, and melting white chocolate, resulting in a composed plum tart impression with strong aromatic persistence.
