Tohato Salty Amaou Strawberry

This is the Tohato Salty Amaou Strawberry, a cookie featuring 2.2% Amaō strawberry powder, 0.08% white chocolate, 10% Guérande salt from Brittany, France, and up to 1% alcohol (rum).

Each package contained eight individually sealed cookies.

Each cookie presented as a circular disc approximately 4  cm in diameter and 0.7 cm in thickness, with a lightly golden egg-washed surface over a pastel pink body. The aroma opened with mellow strawberry sweetness supported by soft buttery undertones.

Initial contact delivered a savoury accent from the glazed surface before yielding with a clean snap. The texture was characterised by a short bite and fine crumb structure. Through the mid-palate, the crumb retained a slight graininess while releasing a gentle strawberry sweetness with an aromatic strawberry character. As the crumb began to dissolve, the salt became more apparent, providing contrast against the sweetness and enhancing flavour definition.

Towards the finish, rehydration transformed the initially dry crumb into a smoother, melting texture. The balance between sweetness, buttery richness and salinity remained well controlled throughout, while the interplay between the strawberry and salt encouraged repeated eating without either element becoming dominant.

Overall, a cookie that felt substantial in flavour yet relatively light in texture, with the structural transition from crisp crumb to melt-away finish forming a key part of the experience.

This Tohato Salty Amaou Strawberry contained 8 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2026.
