When it comes to coffee equipment in our home, we have no shortage. But despite that, nothing quite beats the convenience of a pod machine. It’s quick, clean, and critically, the pods can deliver great flavour. There are a huge variety of flavours when it comes to pods, but the one I find myself returning to constantly is this Nespresso Dharkan.
Dharkan blends Arabicas from Latin America and Asia, long roasted at a low temperature. It’s one of the most intense pods in the Nespresso range, with a rating of 11 out of 12.
The coffee is a translucent deep black-brown colour with an intense roasted aroma.
Made as a long black with a 1 to 1 water:espresso ratio, deep roasted flavour came through ahead of pleasantly bitter cocoa powder in the body and toasted cereal notes in the finish before a long, bitter aftertaste. Despite the intensity and the bitterness, the coffee was smooth with a round mouthfeel.
This Nespresso Dharkan contained 10 x 5.3 g capsules. It was produced in Switzerland and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
