The drink presented with a deep purple base beneath a red-purple slush layer. On tasting, it delivered a bright, forward grape flavour. However, the underlying astringency and bitterness that characterise the brand’s jasmine tea base were again evident. While the grape sweetness was sufficiently pronounced to mask most of this, it remained detectable in the background, most noticeably as a lingering finish. The peeled Kyōhō grapes contributed fresh acidity that helped counterbalance the sweetness, though some pieces struggled to travel up the straw. The crystal pearls added a pleasing bounce and textural contrast.
Overall, this was a clean and refreshing grape-forward drink, but one that was ultimately limited by the same astringent jasmine tea base found across much of the menu.
