Sugi Bee Garden Apple & Honey

We picked up this Sugi Bee Garden Apple & Honey on our last trip to Japan – we really don’t seem to be able to try their products in-store without leaving with something. The salespeople are friendly and good at selling their products, which are very tasty! This apple flavour was the latest addition to their fruit juice honey series, so not one we’d had the pleasure of trying before on earlier visits.

This blends the ‘refreshing sourness of green apple and the gentle sweetness of honey’.

The honey is a transparent straw colour with the fresh aroma of tart green apples. As with all Sugi Bee Garden products, it can be used to make drinks, as a topping with yoghurt or ice cream, as well as on bread or pancakes. On its, own the honey is bright with the tart yet crisp sweetness of green apples.

We like to enjoy ours as a drink. Diluting with water in a 1:5 ratio, the drink was a transparent pale straw colour with the same refreshing aroma of green apples. Served chilled, the sweet notes of green apple came through before developing with its characteristic tartness in the body ahead of a sweet finish. The tartness is prominent, giving a slight mouth-puckering sensation, while the sweetness is balanced, without the overwhelming heaviness of some honey. Indeed, the flavour was clear, tasting much like a green apple cordial.

This Sugi Bee Garden Apple & Honey contained 300 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Kyōto, Japan in 2018.
