This Eikokuya Apple Fruits Tea is the third flavour in the sampler pack of five.
Each fruit flavour comes in individually sealed envelopes with the Apple Fruits Tea containing the tea bag of black tea and three pieces of dried apple.
Steeping one tea bag with the pieces of dried fruit in water at 85°C for 3 minutes, the tea was a clear red-brown colour with a winey black tea aroma.
Served hot with one teaspoon of sugar, this Apple Fruits Tea is much like the other flavours in the sampler: very much like black tea and very little like apple. The apple came through very subtly in the aroma and body as a gentle acidity, but it’s not a flavour that’s identifiably apple, making it essentially a black tea with pieces of floating fruit. As a black tea, it’s pleasant with minimal bitterness or astringency.
This Eikokuya Apple Fruits Tea was part of a set of five different flavours and contained 4 g. The tea originated in Sri Lanka and was purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2014.
