Burwood Chinatown is a haven for hawker-style street food stalls, such as Panda Pandan Noodles Dessert.

They offered three products: two variations on a pandan noodles dessert and a wintermelon tea in a bamboo ‘bottle’. Everything was panda or bamboo themed.

Pandan Noodles Dessert ($10.00). It featured pandan noodles, grape-popping pearls, two matcha Pocky sticks, two panda marshmallows, and coconut milk.
The noodles were translucent with a subtle bounce, suggesting they were made from kudzu rather than gelatin, as in jelly, or tapioca, as in cendol. They delivered a bright pandan flavour with a cool and refreshing mouthfeel. The classic pairing with coconut milk added slurp-ability and enhanced the pandan flavour. The black and white popping pearls provided bursts of sweet acidity, introducing texture and variety to the coconut and pandan notes. The Pocky sticks contributed a satisfying crunch. Among the components, the panda marshmallows were the cutest; however, they were our least favoured due to their incredibly dense milky taste (we were never fans of White Rabbit Milk Candy). Overall, we enjoyed the novelty and most of the flavours and textures in this panda-themed dessert. It was worth the one-time purchase.
