Never in a million years would I have imagined that Arnott’s would come out with a lychee flavoured Tim Tam. But they did and I could not wait to get them into my hands (and tummy) – it took less than 12 hours! These were Arnott’s Tim Tam Messina Coconut & Lychee and they’re one of four flavours released during February 2017 in collaboration with Gelato Messina and inspired by gelato flavours in their lineup.
These have two biscuits sandwiching a lychee flavoured buttercream and enrobed in a coconut flavoured white chocolate. I was always disappointed by the lack of lychee flavour in their coconut & lychee sorbet, so was curious to see if their Tim Tam would fare better.

The Tim Tams smells like coconut and white chocolate, much like the Raffaello by Ferrero Rocher, and came through on tasting ahead of a light floral lychee flavour as you reach the buttercream. The lychee flavour builds in the body, recalling a sweet, ripe and juicy fresh lychee before a slight savoury note in the biscuit reigns in the sweetness a tad, leaving a pleasantly sweet coconut and white chocolate finish followed by a light lychee aftertaste.
The lychee flavour was more prominent in their Tim Tam format than their original gelato format. But these Tim Tams are still best eaten one at a time, as the coconut flavour washes out lychee flavour by the second biscuit. But that’s probably just as well, as the recommended serving size is one biscuit!
This Arnott’s Tim Tam Messina Lychee & Coconut contained 9 biscuits. It was produced in Australia and was purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
