Sara Lee Cinnamon Sugar Apple Pie

This is the Sara Lee Cinnamon Sugar Apple Pie, available from the refrigerated section, in contrast to Sara Lee’s usual frozen range.

The pies presented with a circular shape, measuring approximately 10 cm in diameter and 5 cm in height. The exterior had a deep brown hue, with visible sugar crystals across the top. Each pie contained 32% apple. They could be served cold or reheated in an air fryer preheated to 160°C for 10 minutes. Aroma opened with distinct cinnamon sugar notes over a wholemeal base.

Initial contact delivered a loosely compressed biscuit crumb that closely resembled the base used in Sara Lee’s frozen cheesecakes. When baked, the pastry had a highly crumbly texture with limited structural integrity, accompanied by a dominant dry, wholemeal flavour. The cinnamon sugar appeared to be brown sugar, contributing further to the crumbly texture rather than forming the distinct sugar crust associated with Sara Lee’s original apple pie, which is no longer produced.

Overall, a refrigerated apple pie with a tangy, fruit-forward filling and a loosely compressed, crumbly wholemeal pastry, resulting in an uneven textural balance. The apple filling was enjoyable, but the pastry detracted from the overall experience.

This Sara Lee Cinnamon Sugar Apple Pie contained 250 g (2 pies). It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2026.
