These were the Haitai Calbee Grilled Shrimp.

The snack featured a ring-shaped design, coated in a pale red seasoning, and emitted a sweet fragrance. Upon tasting, the initial and pervasive sweetness mirrored the aroma, persisting throughout each bite. Subtle hints of shrimp emerged in the body, lacking the smokiness one might expect from the ‘grilled’ descriptor. These savoury notes dissipated quickly, giving way to the return of sweetness in the finish. The overall flavour profile leaned towards sweetness rather than a balanced savoury experience, a characteristic often observed in Korean snacks. In sum, these snacks didn’t align well with our palate preferences, making them an unlikely choice for repurchase.
This Haitai Calbee Grilled Shrimp contained 60 g. It was produced in South Korea and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
