Morinaga Hi-Chew Okinawa Mango

This is the Morinaga Hi-Chew Okinawa Mango, a regional release featured mango purée made from mangoes grown in Okinawa Prefecture.

Each box contained five sticks—two wrapped in yellow and three in white—each housing individually portioned candies measuring approximately 2.5 x 1.5 x 1 cm.

The pieces had an opaque orange exterior with a white centre. On tasting, the candy released a mellow, sweet mango aroma, and the soft taffy-like texture allowed for an easy initial bite. The mango flavour emerged immediately, developing into a juicy sweetness with each chew. The profile leaned towards the richer, dessert-like sweetness of a fully ripened mango, rather than the tropical acidity or floral-spiced complexity found in varieties such as Kensington Pride or the mango featured in the Hi-Chew Premium Gold line. Despite this, the flavour remained well balanced, with a gentle acidity adding freshness.

There was no artificial note to the flavour, and true to the Hi-Chew line, the candy was chewy yet non-sticky, leaving a clean finish.

Overall, smooth, juicy mango-flavoured chew with well-balanced sweetness and excellent texture. A high-quality regional edition, and worth repurchasing.

This Morinaga Hi-Chew Okinawa Mango contained (x 5 sticks (12 pieces per stick)). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2024.
