This Whittaker’s Destinations Caramelised Cashew with Australian Wattleseed is number 5 of Whittaker’s Destinations series that uses flavours and ingredients from around the world. It’s described as ‘crunchy cashew nut pieces, batch roasted and caramelised with the nutty, chocolate and caramel flavours of Australian Wattleseed, then covered in 33% cocoa Creamy Milk chocolate’.
Caramel notes are evident from the start of each bite before the milk chocolate melts to a creamy smoothness and exposes the crunchy pieces of cashew and wattleseed. While the crunch of the cashew came through, its naturally mild flavour was overwhelmed by the flavours of the chocolate and wattleseed. That said, the wattleseed came through beautifully, adding pops of caramel nuttiness that are gently savoury to break up the sweetness of the 33% milk chocolate. The overall flavour recalled the milk chocolate with a hint of caramel in the main line of Whittaker’s slabs including the Almond Gold but with a richer flavour and varied texture.
This Whittaker’s Destinations Caramelised Cashew with Australian Wattleseed contained 100 g. It was produced in New Zealand and received as a gift from relatives visiting New Zealand.
