This is the Futaba Grape no Kisetsu Kyohō & Muscat, a dual-flavour frozen dessert featuring two varieties of grape: Kyohō and Muscat.
Each box contained three bars flavoured with Kyohō grape juice (15%) and three bars flavoured with Muscat grape juice (11%). Each piece presented in a rounded rectangular form measuring approximately 10 × 5 × 2 cm.
Both flavours shared a similar structure. The bars featured a firmer exterior, particularly towards the tip, which exhibited greater melt resistance before yielding to a softer and creamier interior. This flavour presented with an opaque purple-red hue. Initial contact delivered immediate Kyohō grape flavour with moderate sweetness. Through the mid-palate, the grape character deepened, with a restrained musky Labrusca profile emerging alongside increasing aromatic intensity. The finish resolved into rich red grape notes while maintaining freshness and balance. Aftertaste carried lingering grape aromatics alongside a clean cooling sensation.
Muscat
This flavour presented with an opaque pastel green-yellow hue. Initial contact delivered immediate muscatel notes with restrained sweetness and a refreshing profile. Through the mid-palate, the Muscat character developed through fragrant floral aromatics and sweet-tropical fruit notes. While highly aromatic, the flavour remained controlled and natural, favouring freshness and varietal expression over intensity. The finish resolved into juicy tropical acidity and lingering Muscat aromatics, balancing the sweetness and reinforcing the freshness of the fruit profile. Aftertaste carried floral muscatel notes alongside a clean cooling finish.
Overall, a frozen dessert with a layered flavour progression and highly integrated textural development, resulting in a refreshing yet flavourful expression of two distinct grape varieties. The Kyohō delivered greater richness and depth through its Labrusca character, while the Muscat emphasised floral aromatics, tropical freshness and elegance. Both benefited from an unusually creamy sorbet-like texture that enhanced flavour delivery without relying on dairy.
