Sokan Sawayaka na Kaori Yuzu Peel

This is the Sokan Sawayaka na Kaori Yuzu Peel, featuring dried yuzu peel from Miyazaki Prefecture.

Each piece measured between 2–4 cm in length and 0.5 cm in width. They were dry to the touch, with a varied yellow-brown-green hue and a mellow, sweet floral aroma.

Compared to other yuzu peels, these were more thoroughly dried, which gave them a slight initial bite. The external sugar provided a gentle crunch that persisted throughout. The yuzu peel itself delivered a bright zestiness, followed by a tangy tartness and a surprisingly juicy, floral quality despite its dryness. Unlike semi-dried peels, these had a cleaner bite with minimal chewiness or fibrousness. The muted colours belied their vibrant flavour, with the greener pieces offering a more zesty, slightly bitter note, while the orange-toned ones leaned sweeter. Notably, the rind did not leave the lingering numbness that many other citrus peels do. Overall, this was a well-balanced and aromatic yuzu peel, well worth repurchasing.

This Sokan Sawayaka na Kaori Yuzu Peel contained 22 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sendai, Japan in 2024.
