This is the Imuraya Yawamochi Ice Matcha Tsubuan.
It consisted of matcha ice cream, topped with tsubuan (chunky azuki bean paste), accompanied by five pieces of mochi, and dusted in matcha powder.

Removed from the freezer, the layer of tsubuan had a firm yet easily cuttable consistency, revealing the softer matcha ice cream beneath. The mochi pieces, however, retained a very firm texture, demanding effort to cut through. Upon tasting, the ice cream unfolded a creamy matcha flavor with a gentle grassy quality, accentuated by the dusting of powder on top. Any potential bitterness from the matcha was balanced by the sweetness of the tsubuan, offering a satisfying textural contrast to the ice cream. Although the mochi lacked its typical elasticity, the robust chewiness still provided a welcomed textual variety. Overall, the refined combination of flavors and textures made this ice cream a satisfying choice worthy of repurchase.
This Imuraya Yawamochi Ice Uji Matcha contained 140 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
