This is the Bubble Gaga from CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice ($7.00, large, no ice, 30% sugar). The drink was a translucent yellow colour layered with tapioca pearls and coconut jelly at the base and a generous amount of passionfruit pulp floating on the surface. Consumed chilled, bright notes of passionfruit came through at the head of each sip and developed to a prominent tartness by mid-sip before the coconut jelly added a mellow sweetness with its chew. The tapioca pearls were unsweetened but provided a chewy texture to the crunch of the passionfruit pulp at the end of each sip which was also salivating in its acidity.

There’s no indication of there being any actual tea in this drink and it didn’t come through on tasting either. Nevertheless, this was a fresh and fruity drink with generous toppings comparable to the mango-based It Takes Two to Mango from Bubble Nini Tea.

This Bubble Gaga was ordered at CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice in Sydney, Australia in 2019.
