This is the Asahi Mintia Shine Muscat, made using powdered juice from Shine Muscat grapes — regarded as the “tree jewel” originating from Kōshū in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan’s principal wine-producing region.

Each mint was a small circular disc, measuring approximately 0.7 cm in diameter and 0.3 cm in height, off-white in hue with fine green flecks. It carried a bright, crisp Shine Muscat aroma that was immediately recognisable.

On tasting, the smooth surface gave way to a mellow tangy flavour that unfolded swiftly into a juicy, tropical sweetness as the mint dissolved. The flavour was distinctly representative of Shine Muscat, capturing the grape’s fragrant, sweet-sour, mango-like character without artificiality. Its tropical notes were balanced and refined, avoiding excessive sweetness while maintaining a refreshing clarity on the palate.
