We followed the sticky date and chocolate puddings with the Aunt Betty’s Steamy Puds Plum Pudding.

 

It consisted of 35% fruit in the form of sultanas, raisins, plum purée (3.5%), lemon peel and glace cherries, as well as 4% brandy. It’s ready after heating for 30 seconds in a 1100W microwave, flipped onto a plate and squeezed.

I expected a plum pudding to be something to a sticky date pudding, but made with prunes, so the memories of Christmas pudding or fruit cake given off by the aroma and flavour from the blend of sultanas, raisins, lemon peel and glace cherries surprised me. The pudding is dense with chunks of fruit, almost like fruit cake, as well as a heady mix of holiday spices and brandy to firmly give of a Christmas dessert. For those who are fond of Christmas desserts, serving this pudding with a brandy custard would be one way to enjoy it year around.
