This is the Bourbon Sharimoni Gumi Omoi o Tsunagu Citrus Mix, a commemorative product jointly developed by Bourbon, Hyōgo Prefecture, and Kōbe Gakuin University. Released to mark 30 years since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake on 17 January 2025, the product aims to promote a spirit of cherishing daily life and bringing cheer. The citrus mix flavour features a blend of juice concentrates from yuzu, lime, and lemon.

Each gummy had a wavy, rectangular shape measuring approximately 4 x 2.5 x 0.5 cm, with a light orange hue and a mellow citrus aroma. On tasting, the sour powder coating provided a sharp initial acidity that gave way to a layer of coarse sugar crystals—noticeably larger than those on standard gummies. These crystals offered a pronounced crunch that lasted through the bite and released an intensified sweetness, lingering as they gradually dissolved on the palate.

The interior of the gummy had an unusually soft, stretchable texture—closer to a marshmallow in tenderness, with only a subtle gelatinous resistance. The juxtaposition of the crisp sugar coating and soft centre created a compelling contrast. Once the initial sourness faded, the gummy’s citrus mix became more discernible: floral yuzu emerged first, followed by a lemon-forward acidity that peaked mid-bite, and a lingering sharp lime finish. Despite the name, the flavour itself was secondary to the novel texture.
