This is the Futaba Melon no Kisetsu Yubari & Andes, a dual-flavour frozen dessert featuring two varieties of melon: Yubari melon and Andes melon.
Each box contained two bars flavoured with Yubari melon juice (5%) and four bars flavoured with Andes melon juice (8%). Each piece presented in a rounded rectangular form measuring approximately 10 × 5 × 2 cm.
Both flavours shared a similar structure. The bars began with a firmer exterior that gradually softened into a smoother interior as they melted. The texture sat between a granita and a sorbet, becoming increasingly cohesive and melt-in-the-mouth through the mid-palate. Both varieties maintained a natural fruit character without artificial confectionery notes, finishing with lingering melon aromatics and a light cooling sensation.

Yubari Melon
This flavour presented with an even orange hue, closely resembling the flesh of fresh Yubari melon. Initial contact delivered immediate Yubari melon flavour with mellow sweetness. Through the mid-palate, the flavour expanded into the rich, fragrant sweetness associated with the tender flesh of the fresh fruit, balancing sweetness with fresh aromatic lift. The finish carried lingering melon sweetness and floral fruit notes while maintaining freshness and restraint. Aftertaste carried fresh melon aroma alongside a light cooling sensation.

Andes Melon
This flavour presented with an opaque pastel green-yellow hue, closely resembling the flesh of fresh Andes melon. Initial contact delivered immediate Andes melon flavour with restrained sweetness and a refreshing profile. Through the mid-palate, the melon character remained aromatic but controlled, favouring freshness and clarity over intensity. The finish resolved into clean melon notes with moderate sweetness, allowing the fruit character to remain bright and refreshing. Aftertaste carried lingering melon aroma alongside a clean cooling finish.
Overall, a frozen dessert with a layered flavour progression and well-integrated textural development, resulting in a fruit-forward and highly refreshing eating experience. The Yubari variety offered greater aromatic richness and sweetness, while the Andes variety emphasised freshness, restraint and textural refinement.
This Futaba Melon no Kisetsu Yubari & Andes contained 330 mL (55 mL x 3 Yubari flavour, 55 mL x 3 Andes flavour]. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2026.
