This is the Kasugai Tsubu Gumi Premium Rich Apple

Each bag featured the distinct flavours of three apple varieties: shinano gold, fuji and ōrin. The flavours were evenly spread in the bag (19:18:20).

The back of the packaging indicated the balance of freshness, sweetness, and acidity in each variety.

The Shinano Gold jellybean featured a yellow soft candy shell encasing a translucent yellow gummy centre.

The candy shell provided the crisp sweetness of the apple, while biting through to the gummy centre released an increasingly juicy acidity, complementing the robust tropical notes characteristic of the fresh fruit. This Japanese apple variety has swiftly become our favourite after recently becoming available in Australia. The jellybeans captured every aspect of the apple’s balanced flavour—crispness, tropical sweetness, and juiciness—making it our top choice among the three flavours.

The Fuji jellybean had a pink-red soft candy shell encasing a translucent pink gummy centre. The candy shell delivered a refreshing apple sweetness, though it was markedly less sweet than the Ōrin and lacked the juicy acidity of the Shinano Gold. The gummy centre provided a similar flavour profile, offering an enjoyable apple taste but not standing out compared to the other two flavours.

The Ōrin jellybean featured a green soft candy shell enclosing a translucent green gummy centre. The candy shell delivered an intensely sweet apple flavour, while chewing through to the gummy centre released a touch of acidity, enhancing the freshness of the apple flavour and introducing the crisp taste often associated with the apple’s skin. This was the sweetest of the three flavours and our second favourite after the Shinano Gold.

Just like the preceding flavours in this series, we continue to be enthusiastic fans of the textures and flavours in these jellybeans.
