Kettle doesn’t come out with new flavours for their permanent range, so this Kettle Chip Company Mozzarella & Basil Pesto is one of the first we’ve seen in a while. The flavour was quintessentially Italian, but neither the mozzarella nor the basil pesto is something we’ve seen flavouring chips before.

These chips have a bit of a funky aroma that’s a bit like Vietnamese fish sauce. For someone who didn’t grow up with the flavour, it’s a bit off-putting, but thankfully, as with fish sauce, the chips themselves taste fine. The funkiness is from the milky and acidic flavours of the mozzarella, which came through as an umami-packed savoury flavour and is followed by a prominent basil hit mid-bite with a hint of garlic in the finish.
Aroma aside, these chips have nuanced notes of cheese that’s much different from the cheddar flavoured cheese snacks more often found.
This Kettle Chip Company Mozzarella & Basil Pesto with a Hint of Garlic contained 175 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
