This Magnum Tub Chocolate & Hazelnut Praline is described as being ‘velvety chocolate and hazelnut ice cream with chocolate shards, encased in a thick Magnum chocolate shell with caramelised hazelnut pieces’.

Excited to eat it, we opened the tub only to discover had to wait 10 minutes before digging in!

Ten minutes had never seemed longer. While we waited, we wondered why waiting was necessary. A quick search on the internet seems to suggest that it allows the chocolate to break into smaller shards.

After 10 minutes, we give the tub a firm squeeze and whack on the top with the edge of a spoon to break up the chocolate.

The ice cream has a fragrant hazelnut and rich chocolate aroma. As we eat through the ice cream, the thick top and base of the chocolate shell bring a chunky mouthfeel that contrasts well with the smooth and creamy hazelnut ice cream. And there’s no need to ration out the chocolate chunks, either! The same thick pieces of chocolate are buried throughout the ice cream along with crushed hazelnuts. We’re pleasantly impressed by this ice cream as we had initial reservations that the chocolate shell was merely a gimmick.

This Magnum Tub Chocolate & Hazelnut Praline contained 440 ml. It was produced in Hungary and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
