This is the Nespresso Limited Edition Frosted Caramel Nut from the festive blend for Christmas 2023. The coffee was flavoured with blond caramel and almond and primarily consisted of a blend of dark split-roasted beans sourced from Honduras and Uganda, both fully washed and 100% Arabica, complemented by lightly roasted beans to achieve an overall medium roast.

It came in a cream capsule adorned with a gold diamond pattern and, as a flavoured coffee, did not feature the typical intensity rating for Nespresso’s capsules.

Nespresso recommended extracting this capsule as a lungo for black coffee or as an espresso for milk coffee.

When extracted as a lungo, the black coffee was a translucent brown-black colour and exuded an aromatic blend of roasted coffee notes with a pleasant nutty sweetness reminiscent of the individually flavoured caramel and almond capsules. Upon sipping, subtle hints of caramel and vanilla came through initially, complemented by malty cereal undertones from the coffee. Further along, the nutty almond flavours gradually surfaced, enhancing the coffee’s roasted qualities. Mid-sip, the almond notes harmonized with the lingering caramel, maintaining a moderate acidity in the body with only a hint of bitterness, which became subtly pronounced in the finish. When extracted as an espresso for a flat white, the milk muted the acidity and bitterness, evoking the taste of almond vanilla biscuits. Overall, this limited edition capsule was a delightful treat for the festive season, but not one we’d reach for daily.
