This Pokka Sapporo Happy Soup Tsubu Corn Potage is another brand of corn potage that we picked up from Japan earlier in the year.

Each box contained 8 servings sealed individually in foil bags.

Each bag contained a pale yellow granular powder with dehydrated corn kernels. The corn potage is prepared by adding 150 mL of boiling water to the contents and stirring quickly for 10 seconds.

The soup is a translucent, almost opaque, pale yellow colour with plump kernels floating on the surface and a pleasant sweet corn aroma.

The flavour of sweet corn came through prominently with pleasant savoury notes in the background that reminds of chicken stock. In comparison with the Knorr Tsubu Tappuri Corn Cream Potage, the chicken stock flavour here does not overpower the corn flavour. The prepared soup also has a smooth and creamy texture on the tongue, although it’s one downside is that the corn kernels here do not bring additional corn flavour and add only texture and a slight sweetness. Perhaps that’s not necessary, though, as there’s plenty of corn flavour from the soup itself, which has a familiar and satisfying flavour that recalled the corn potage ordered at family restaurants in Japan.
